Justified

Count on it: They will be in utter panic because God is with the righteous generation. You evildoers may humiliate the plans of those who suffer, but the Lord is their refuge. Let Israel's salvation come out of Zion! When the Lord changes His people's circumstances for the better, Jacob will rejoice; Israel will celebrate!

- Psalm 14:5-7 CEB -

One of my favorite artists is Jason Emmanuel Petty, better known as Propaganda. He is most recognized for his spoken word and I admire him for his honesty, as he speaks on issues openly and genuinely, not attempting to seem perfect or put-together. In one of his spoken words, he addresses a challenge to his faith by asking fellow believers, "Have you never felt like this was all in your head?"

What Propaganda meant was that sometimes, as Christians, we can doubt our faith, coming to feel that perhaps we have made it all up in our heads. This sentiment is often fueled by the fact that we hear it from the world. The world will tell you that it is illogical to believe in a God, that there is no evidence to support the existence of an almighty creator, and over time, those lies can begin to creep into your mind.

I personally have found myself attempting to hide a lack of faith such as this, for fear that if people knew my struggle, it would weaken my God. But the truth is, we have all had times of weak faith. For Pete's sake, Peter was in the process of walking on water when he began to doubt and sank into the sea.

But this passage from Psalms is a reassurance that our faith, even when it is weak, will be justified in the end. Because God's strength is not dependent on our faith. Because Jesus will return. Because He will bring salvation. Because He will wipe away every tear and change our circumstances
for the better.

Propaganda goes on to say that while his mind may not always be able to reconcile logic with faith, he always knows in his heart that his faith will be justified. The next time that you are experiencing weak faith, the next time that you are hearing the lies of this world creeping into your mind, think of this passage and find reassurance in the fact...yes, the FACT...that Jesus will return, and that your faith will be justified.
