Difficult Choices

“The truly happy person doesn’t follow wicked advice, doesn’t stand on the road of sinners, and doesn’t sit with the disrespectful. Instead of doing those things, these persons love the Lord’s Instruction, and they recite God’s Instruction day and night! They are like a tree planted by streams of water, which bears fruit at just the right time and whose leaves don’t fade. Whatever they do succeeds.”

Have you ever had to make a really difficult choice? It can be very difficult to decide between multiple options for a situation, and decide which one you are going to choose. Sometimes these choices are between multiple good things, and sometimes it’s between good and bad. There are so many things that influence the things that we do every single day. TV shows, friends, parents, social media, peer pressure and many other factors come into play everyday as we decide how we act and operate in our daily lives. It is sometimes crazy, and scary to me how influenced we can be by so many things outside of ourselves. This means that we have to be careful about what we let influence us. These can be choices as small as what to eat for lunch, or as big as cheating on a test, or giving into negative peer pressure.

What things in your life are you letting impact the choices you make everyday? Who are you letting impact the choices you make everyday?

It is so easy to get distracted and influenced by everything we have around us. We will all make the wrong choices at some point in life. Sometimes we don’t give a decision a second thought, and sometimes that choice changes us for the rest of our life. It is so important to make sure that God is one of these influences in your life, because without that influence it is easy to disconnect ourselves from God. God is the only thing that acts as a stream of life to support us and nurture us. I encourage you to look at the people and influences in your life. Investigate if you are surrounded by people who will bring you closer to God, or pull you further away. Look and see how the things/ people who have influence in your life are helping your life bloom with God’s fruit. Are the things in your life bringing water to your roots, or are they cutting them away? God gives life to us just like water gives life to trees. God helps us bloom and grow fruit throughout our life. How close are you to God’s stream? What can you do to get closer to Him?
